Fifty-five young men will be recognized for their academic achievements of his school year during a ceremony on Sunday, June 10, in Franklin High School.
Putting this together is the Franklin-Southampton Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc.
Victor Picot, a member, said this recognition was first done a couple of years when the group was chartered in 1995.
“I wanted to bring it back,” Picot explained about this re-launch. “I wrote letters to parents, and shared the idea with teachers, principals and guidance counselors.”
He added that the aforementioned school personnel selected the students. In addition to Franklin, Southampton and Surry high schools, both Rock Church and Southampton Academy will also be represented.
Certificates will be given as tokens of appreciation for their young men’s scholastic work.
The principal speaker will be Cornelius N. Hudgins IV, the 26th Eastern Province polemarch, or president, of the fraternity. He’s also a recipient of the National William L. Crump Award.
