WINDSOR
The Lady Dukes hosted Rappahannock in the 1A Regional Championship game on Friday night. This was the first time the Windsor Lady Dukes reached a Regional Championship game in program history.

The game was tied 0-0 through the first four innings until Rappahannock’s Meredith Slaw hit a solo home run to center field to give Rappahannock the 1-0 lead. That was the only run scored in the game.

Senior E.J. Bankson took the hard-luck loss, only allowing one run on four hits, striking out seven. Caroline Davenport was the winning pitcher for Rappahannock.

Davenport went six innings, allowing one hit and striking out one.

The Lady Dukes still qualified for the VHSL State Tournament and face the Riverheads on the road Tuesday at 4 p.m. Results were not available at press time.

This is also the first time the Lady Dukes are participating in the State Tournament in program history.
