COURTLAND — Horace Milton “Minnie” Turner, 91, passed away on May 27, 2018, in East Pavilion.

Minnie was born in Carrsville, and was a son of the late James Henry Turner Sr. and Cora Scott Turner. He was also predeceased by his wife, Mary Nell Johnson Turner; four sisters, Helen Turner, Eleanor T. Hatch, Mae Dunlow Jones and Dorothy Cobb; and a brother, James H. Turner Jr.

Minnie attended Western Carolina College, was a Navy veteran and a retired beater engineer with 44 years of service with International Paper.

He was a former member of Delaware Hunt Club and The Sportsman Bassmasters, and a member of Courtland United Methodist Church.

Left to cherish his memory are two stepdaughters, Cindy B. Lynskey of Orange Park, Florida, and Vicki B. Huggins (Graham) of Melbourne, Australia; three grandchildren, Amy Wilkinson (Dave,) Katie O’Brien (Jacob) and Emily Lynskey; three great-granddaughters, Evelyn, Mary Maeve and Charlotte; several nieces and nephews; and dear friend, Nell Kauss.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 9, in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, with the Rev. Andrew Book officiating. Burial will follow in Southampton Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends in the funeral home on Friday, June 8, from 6 to 8 p.m., and suggests that memorial donations be made to Courtland United Methodist Church.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of the East Pavilion.
