The annual Franklin/Southampton and Emporia/Greensville Relay For Life is on for Saturday, June 2, and will again be at Armory Field on Armory Drive.

One change should be noted. The luminaria ceremony, which was scheduled for around 8 p.m., has had to be postponed. Cindy Cotton, one of the event coordinators, said the weather forecast combined with concern for participants’ safety decided the change. The new date for the ceremony is still to be determined.

Otherwise, this is the schedule of activities.

9:45 AM – Opening Ceremonies

• Presentation of Colors 

• National Anthem – Cecil Edwards

10 a.m. – Survivor Lap

10:15 a.m. – Team Captain Recognition Lap with introductions of team captains

10:30 a.m. – 50 Yard Line Game On Stretch (Yoga with Jane Riddick-Fries)

11 a.m. – “Just Do It” – Sports

• Costume Lap (Dress in Your Favorite Sporting Attire)

• Strike Out Cancer…Baseball Toss

• Tackle Cancer…Football Throw

11:30 a.m. – “Don’t Get Twisted” – Cancer is No Game

• Guess the Number of Gum Drops from Candy Land in the Jar on the 50-Yard Line

• Pick a Lucky Lollipop from the Lollipop Garden on the 50-Yard Line

• Play Relay’s Giant Kerplunk Game on the 50-Yard Line

11:45 a.m. – “Power Up” with Tanya on the 50-Yard Line

Noon – “Power Up Against Cancer” Video Game Fun 

• Video Obstacle Course

• Video Games Through the Years (pick your best team member to play)

12:30 p.m. – Scavenger Hunt (pick up your forms on 50 yard line) 

• Team Campsite Judging will be conducted at 1 p.m.

• Pick Up Game Show Crossword Puzzles, Word Finds & Relay Wheel of Fortune Sheets from the 50-Yard Line

12:45 p.m. — “In It to Win It” –  Game Show Fun

• Competition Round I – everyone participates with top 6 moving on

• Competition Round II – top 6 participate with 3 moving on to finals

• Competition Round III – top 3 participate with 1 final winner

Kidz’ Fest (tug a war, balloon toss, red light/green light) in the Armory Drive End Zone

1:30 p.m. — “Knocking Cancer off the Board” Board Game Adventures

• Game of Life (pick your most courageous team member)

• Game of Life Sized Scrabble

2:15 p.m. — “Betting on a Cure” – Card Games

• Poker Lap

• Full House Pinata

2:45 p.m. — “Pie in the Face”

• Get ready to get messy on the 50 yard line

3 p.m. — “Putting Cancer in Jeopardy” – More Game Show Competitions

• Price is Right

• Name that Tune

• Relay Wheel of Fortune Answers Revealed

3:30 p.m. — “Game On” Trivia Game

4 p.m. – Talent Show

5 p.m. – Game Time Pizza Party in the End Zone ($5.00 donation to benefit Relay– two pizza slices & soda)

5:30 p.m. – Raffles, Contest Winners & Announcements

6 p.m. – Campsite Breakdown & Prepare for Luminary Ceremony

6:15 p.m. – Dessert Social on the 50-yard line

6:30 p.m. – Relax to the Sounds of Alex Dunlow

7:30 p.m.  – Chester Burgess Spirit of Relay Award and Pete Clark Relay Award Presentations
