Julia V. Hedgspeth

FRANKLIN — Julia Vasser Hedgspeth, 83, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 23, 2018, in East Pavilion.
Julia was born on Nov. 11, 1934, in Georgia to the late Ruby and Edgar Wiggins. She was also predeceased by her husbands, James I. Hedgspeth and James T. Vasser; and brother, John W. Franklin Jr.
Julia spent many years being a wife and mother of four children at home, and later in life she was the manager of Pope’s in Courtland.
She was a member of Burdette Baptist Church.
Because of Julia sharing her life here on earth, she is survived by four children, Roger T. Vasser (Diane,) Peggy V. Gray (Wayne,) Garry D. Vasser and Patricia V. Lane (Bob;) her sister, Elizabeth “Libby” W. Powell, whom she loved dearly; her five grandchildren, Charles W. Gray Jr. (Shannon,) James Andrew “Andy” Gray, Kelly Edwards Donnell (Chaz,) Chelsey Edwards-Blakley (Quinton Sr.) and Ridge M. Edwards (Samantha); and 11 great-grandchildren, Frances and Dottie Gray, Caleigh and Camden Gray, Bryer Donnell, Quinton Jr., Michaela, Abby and Lexy Blakley, and Aidyn and Spencyr Edwards.
The graveside service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 26, in Nansemond Suffolk Cemetery, 1421 Kingsfork Road, Suffolk, with Pastor Kenneth Williams officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday in Wright Funeral Home, and requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Burdette Baptist Church, 35490 Burdette Road, Franklin, VA 23851.
We have all been very blessed to have known this lady.
