A Franklin man is in custody on charges of stabbing two people, according to information provided by Capt. Tim Whitt, spokesman for the Franklin Police Department.

He reported that on Friday at 4:27 p.m., officers went to a residence in the 200 block of Cobb Street for a report of a stabbing. On arrival, they found an adult female who had multiple stab wounds to her arms, hands, chest and abdomen. Once the scene was cleared by police, rescue workers responded to provide emergency treatment to the victim and transported her to the emergency room.

The suspect, Michael Reid Beasley 28, was still at the scene and non-compliant to officer’s instructions. He was remanded to Western Tidewater Regional Jail without bond.

Investigation revealed that a second victim, a 61-year-old male, was at the emergency room. This man was stabbed in his buttocks at the same Cobb Street location. The suspect and victims are known to each other, but no motive for the attack has been established.

Beasley was charged with one count of aggravated malicious wounding, one count of malicious wounding, obstruction of justice and giving false information to police.
