Brittany Cobb, with her mother by her side, signed to further her education and her softball career next year at Richard Bland College. Brittany’s mother, Cynthia Cobb, her teammates, coaches, SHS administration, friends and family witnessed Cobb commit to Richard Bland in a signing ceremony in the SHS auditorium on May 10. Brittany is a 2018 honor graduate and was recognized as an outstanding senior through all aspects at Southampton High School. In addition to being a member of the varsity softball program, Brittany is active in the Future Farmers of America, American Red Cross Blood Drive and National Honor Society.

In front, Cynthia Cobb, Brittany Cobb and Coach Amy Davis; back, Coach Tim Mason, Principal Allene Atkinson, Aronda Bell and Derrick Johnson, assistant principals.

Brittany has put in much time and effort into improving her softball craft. She began playing T-ball in the county’s recreational ball program for Newsoms. She continued through the county’s softball program where she played until she aged out at 16. Brittany saw the need to continue to seek competitive play and has played on several travel softball teams. She is a member of the Galaxy Travel program and plays for Coach Roddy.

At her official signing, Southampton High School’s Principal Allene Atkinson congratulated Cobb on all of her accomplishments here at Southampton and extended her hope for continued success in the classroom and on the softball field.

Aronda Bell, assistant principal and JV assistant coach, encouraged her to keep up the good work and to keep in touch and let us know her schedule so we can follow her in her next chapter. Derrick Johnson, assistant principal, told her to keep being the outstanding person she is. Coach Tim Mason, athletic director, encouraged her to continue being the student athlete she was here at SHS.

I, her varsity softball coach, thanked Brittany for her years of dedication to the program and to help build our program into what it is today and what it will continue to be. I wished her luck next year in her softball season but reminded her that we still have a lot of softball left to play this year and to continue our success.

We wish Brittany and all of her teammates in the class of 2018 much success as they venture out into new experiences.
