The Hunterdale Ruritan Club will host its 55th Annual Western Beef Bar B Q at the Southampton County Fairgrounds this Saturday, May 19. Gates will open at 3 p.m. for fellowship and entertainment featuring two of the areas most popular bands, “Hickory Knoll and “Silver Street.”
An open bar with adult beverages and keg beer will be available for those 21 and older. The menu is unchanged, as generous portions of top sirloin beef will be prepared and served, basted with the club’s “secret sauce,” baked beans, cole slaw, rolls and iced tea. Serving will be from 4 to 7, with a “drive- thru take-out” feature and covered eating area.
Our commemorative T-shirts will be on sale for $5, and hats for $12.
The event is enjoying its 55th year and the club will be celebrating its 70th in October.
Though the membership is aging, it still manages to come together and pull the event off successfully, taking pride in knowing that it is the only fund raising event of the year and that the proceeds generated are returned to the needs of their community.
The tickets are $30 and are available at Fred’s Restaurant, Smith’s Jewelers, Chamber of Commerce, Keeter Kuts, Murphy’s Motors, Commonwealth Gin, TicketLeap.com or any Ruritan Member.
The club sincerely appreciates the generous offerings from our sponsors, donors and friends without which the event would not be possible.
The Hunterdale Ruritan Club meets on the first Tuesday of each month in the Hunterdale Christian Church, and welcomes anyone with a desire for fellowship, food, friendship and community involvement to be a part of a 70-year legacy.
