CHESAPEAKE — Catherine “Cat” Cooke Pryor, 90, passed away peacefully after a brief stay in Bon Secours Maryview Nursing Center, on the morning of Thursday, May 10, 2018.

Born in Boykins, she was predeceased by her husband, Frank Wallace Pryor; parents, Charles and Xenia Cook; son, Roger Wallace Pryor; son-in-law, Douglas Reid Thrasher; brother Earl; and four sisters, Jean, Ruby, Frances and Doris.

In 1945, Cat graduated from Alexander Park High School in Portsmouth.

She worked for the Chesapeake School Board until she retired after 20 years.

Cat spent most of her life in Chesapeake, Virginia, being a homemaker and raising two children mostly on her own.

She was a wonderful and giving wife, mother, sister, daughter, aunt, cousin and friend.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Peggy P. Thrasher. Her children, family and all her furry friends throughout the years were what she cherished the most. Cat was a fun-loving, caring, generous person to everyone she knew.

A special thanks to her niece Cindy and Grace Hospice for their kindness in caring for her. Also, thanks to her nieces and nephews who were a great support.

The memorial service will be on Saturday, May 19, at 4 p.m., in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Boulevard Chapel.

The family will receive friends in the funeral home immediately following the service.
