A man accused of performing sexual acts on a minor under age 13 has been detained in the Southampton County Jail with no bond.

According to Maj. Gene Drewery, spokesman for the Southampton County Sheriff’s Office, Darrell Edward White II, 30, of Renshaw Drive, West Bath, Maine, was arrested in Maine and booked in Southampton County on May 2 on charges resulting from grand jury indictments in Southampton Circuit Court. The Southampton County Sheriff’s Office received the original complaint on Sept. 25, 2017, which concerns crimes alleged to have occurred in Southampton County in 2007.

The victim alleges that they were made to perform various sexual acts while White, an uncle, was babysitting that person.

The Sheriff’s Office investigated these crimes in conjunction with the Suffolk Police Department, where other similar crimes are alleged to have occurred.

White is charged with four counts of aggravated sexual battery – victim under age 13, six counts of forcible sodomy, victim under age 13 and one count of object sexual penetration – victim under age 13. He has been arraigned on all charges and his next court date is in Southampton Circuit Court on Tuesday, June 5.
