Southampton boys netters put one over Broncos

FRANKLIN
It was a little windy as play began on Monday when the Southampton Indians and the Franklin Broncos boys tennis teams took to the courts at Franklin High School for a match. In this first meeting of the two teams, the Indians cruised to an easy 6-3 win over the Broncos.

FHS’s Damarus McDonald and SHS’s Ethan Smith, both playing at the No. 4 spot in the line-up, were the only players to play a three-setter, with Smith winning 7-2 in the final tie break to claim the match.

Singles matches played using the best two out of three sets.

3. William Brown won 6-3, 6-3 over Tyrik Dickerson

4. Demarcus McDonald lost 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (tie break 2-7) to Ethan Smith

5. Jalyn Hobbs lost, 4-6, 5-7 to Brandon Williams

6. Antoynio Grant of SHS won by default
