Bronco FCU awards $22K in scholarships

Bronco Federal Credit Union is pleased to award eight high school seniors from the community with scholarships to help them begin their continued education journey.

This year’s program awarded two $5,000 scholarships, three $3,000 scholarships and three $1,000 scholarships to the graduating seniors.

Selena Johnson of Southampton Academy and Taylor Cross of Southampton High School are the recipients of the $5,000 John Alan Glasgow Memorial Scholarships. This scholarship is named in memory of John Alan Glasgow, Class of 1999, to recognize the scholastic and life achievements of a graduating student.

From left, Grant Hasty of Windsor HIgh School, Dajour Faulk of Lakeland HIgh School and Haleigh Andrew of Southampton High School were each awarded the $1,000 Bronco Scholarship.

Skylar Old of Nansemond River High School is the recipient of the $3,000 Charles A. Wrenn Scholarship. Katherine Henk of Smithfield High School is the $3,000 recipient of the James C. Copeland Scholarship. These two named scholarships were just added in 2018 in recognition of two long-serving board members and former board chairmen who dedicated over 30 years to the BFCU  board of directors.

Ashyln Edwards of Southampton High School was awarded the $3,000 Bronco Scholarship. Grant Hasty of Windsor High School, Dajour Faulk of Lakeland High School and Haleigh Andrew of Southampton High School were the $1,000 Bronco Scholarship recipients. The 2018 scholarship winners have demonstrated excellent community and extracurricular activity involvement as well as strong academics throughout their high school careers.
