FRANKLIN
No injuries or property damage have been reported as a result of a brush fire in the 31000 block of Smith’s Ferry Road on Saturday afternoon.

According to Franklin Fire and Rescue officials, units were dispatched at approximately 4:35 p.m.

Less than one acre of forestland was affected.

The fire was fully extinguished and the scene was cleared by approximately 5:44 p.m.

Units from the Hunterdale and Newsoms volunteer fire departments also responded to the scene.

The Virginia Department of Forestry was also called, but ended up not being needed to contain the fire.

No cause of the fire has been identified.
