Take advantage of offered fun

We don’t know what your plans are for this weekend, but we’ll be busy having fun, and invite you to come along. Thankfully, the forecast so far indicates that Saturday will be an excellent day for being outdoors.

To start, that makes it ideal for us to participate in Down Home Day over in Courtland. This annual program, which lasts from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., enables adults and, most especially, children to see life as it was lived decades before many of the conveniences we enjoy now became everyday appliances and tools.

You can read the details starting on A1.

When you’re done there, come over to Armory Field in Franklin and support the PDC Hurricanes as they play a double-header against Stratford University starting at 1 p.m. By the way, the home team won on Wednesday 10-9 against TNCC. Good job, gentlemen. Best of luck tomorrow.

Between that and the 4 p.m. game is the inaugural Franklin Day of Prayer, which starts at around 3:15 p.m. This will be no mere worship service featuring local pastors. Instead, members of the public will lead those residents who gather to pray for our community, education, leadership and peace. As with the baseball games, there’s no admission. We don’t think there will even be a collection basket on this occasion. Just come with an open and willing heart.

For those of you with future baseball and softball stars, youth league players will be at bat and on the field from 10 a.m. through 2 p.m., also at the Armory Field.

That’s where the Down the Middle Foundation will host its Family and Friends Day.

Still not tired? Check out our calendar on pages A4 and A7 for more activities.

See you around!
