FRANKLIN
Right At Home, an Omaha, Nebraska-based in-home caregiving service with offices in 500 locations throughout the world, is hoping to set up its next franchise location in the city of Franklin.
According to Diane Huffer, Right At Home’s development director, the company has identified the Virginia Beach metropolitan statistical area, which includes Franklin, as the largest MSA without a Right At Home office. The reason the company identified Franklin specifically as its ideal location for a new office is the abundance of senior citizens residing in and near the city.
“If you look at the average percent of the population over 65, in general, it’s 15 percent,” Huffer said. In the Franklin area, it’s almost 20 percent. That’s a lot of folks who are going to need some type of care as they age.”
She added that she felt the presence of a Franklin office would also be of benefit to younger, working adults in the area.
“We can bring a lot of jobs with this business,” she said. “Our average franchise generates about $1.49 million in revenues. That equates to 50 to 60 jobs in the business.”
At the moment, the company is seeking an owner for the proposed franchise. Typically, the company looks for individuals with a strong business or management background when recruiting prospective franchise owners, Huffer said. Healthcare experience is a plus but 80 percent of Right At Home owners do not have a healthcare background, she added.
The company hopes to have found this person by the end of summer and have the Franklin office open by the end of the year.
“It’s a quick start up without a lot of red tape,” Huffer said. “The investment is $78,000 to $137,000. Forbes [magazine], in 2016, rated us the No. 1 franchise to invest in with an investment of less than $150,000.”
