The announcement on Wednesday by parent company Supervalu Inc. that it’s selling a little over half of its 38 Farm Fresh stores was unsettling. Even more so because the grocery on Armory Drive in Franklin is not on the list of stores bought by three major retailers — Kroger Mid-Atlantic Division, Harris Teeter and Food Lion.

We would have thought that this location would be ideal for any of those three to either establish their presence or at last upgrade and expand their market.

Supervalu claims it is still seeking potential buyers for the Franklin Farm Fresh, and we hope for the sake of the store’s employees, their families and the community at large that one is found.
