BLACK CREEK
The Southampton County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information in reference to recent burglaries in the Black Creek area of the county.
On Tuesday, deputies responded to the 18000 block of Black Creek Road, where they discovered that entry was made to a residence through a back door. Multiple tools and jewelry were stolen. The crime is believed to have occurred sometime from March 1 to March 6.
Also, on Tuesday, deputies responded to the 15000 block of Womble Mill Road. Their investigation revealed that the front door to the residence had been forced open and 11 firearms were stolen. Security video confirms that this incident occurred on Monday from 9:55 a.m. to 10:07 a.m.
A suspect vehicle was seen on the video but due to the distance and quality of the footage the make, model, and color cannot be determined. The suspect vehicle was a car, but it is not known if it was a sedan or a coupe.
The Sheriff’s Office has identified some persons of interest in both of these cases and is seeking the public’s help. If anyone has seen any suspicious vehicles or persons in the area around these times, they are asked to report that information by contacting Dep. Angel at 653-2100 or anonymously by calling the Franklin/Southampton Crime Line at 653-2900.
Crime Line callers that provide tips that result in the arrest and prosecution of a suspect are eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
