To the Editor:

The upcoming election for sheriff in Isle of Wight County is a critical one, as it determines the future direction of our county’s law enforcement agency.

A fresh perspective from someone who has a true passion for the job, the energy to be on the forefront and the tenacity to relentlessly and unapologetically pursue criminals is needed.

Being sheriff is more than a desk job, it’s more than paperwork and signing reports.

A sheriff must be visible, active and highly innovative, someone willing to change gears in a second to respond to events and still have vision for the next 10 to 20 years.

I have known James Pope since 2002. He is someone who works incredibly hard, never rests when pursuing crime, and truly has a deep-rooted passion for selfless service to you and your family.

As someone who has family and business in Isle of Wight, there’s nobody I would trust more to protect this precious county and all its residents. Vote Pope for sheriff.
