After having a big win in the opening first round of the 2018 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Tournament, the Chowan University Lady Hawks seemed to have just ran out of gas as they suffered a crushing 89-58 blow out lost to the Lady Panther’s of Virginia Union University.

The Lady Hawks playing at Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Wednesday with 5:58 in the first quarter tied the score at 6 all, and then went ahead 8-6 on a jumper by Joanne Williams.

The Lady Hawks tied the score again at 8, 10 and 12 all before the Lady Panthers cranked up the scoring to turn the lights out early in the game for the Lady Hawks.

The closest in score, 19-24 for the Lady Hawks, came at the 7:49 mark in the second quarter following a 3-point basket by Jada Lee. From that point the Lady Panthers never looked back as they poured on the scoring for the victory.

In scoring the Lady Hawks had four players in double figures. They were Joanne Williams and Danielle Weldon, both with 12 points apiece, and Jada Lee and Dhyamond Crenshaw, both with 11 points apiece.
