EDINBURG — Gary Bailey Peebles, 55, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018, in his home.

Mr. Peebles was born on June 21, 1962, in Lawrenceville, Virginia, a son of Marion Wilson Peebles of Lawrenceville, and the late Ann Bailey Peebles.

He was a 1984 graduate of Virginia Tech.

He retired from the Virginia State Police in 2014 after 27 years.

He was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Woodstock.

Surviving, along with his father, are his wife of 29 years, Mary Peebles; brother, Robert M. Peebles and wife, Pamela, of Midlothian, Virginia; sister, Mary Ann Crowder and husband, David, of Boydton, Virginia; brother-in-law, John Taraldsen and wife, Missy, of Hickory, North Carolina; sister-in-law, Mimi Brousseau of St. Martinville, Louisiana; nieces and nephews, Lindsey Peebles, Colin Soles, Tripp Taraldsen, Amanda Brousseau and Lynn Brousseau.

The funeral will be on Wednesday, Feb. 28, at 2 p.m., in Valley Funeral Service. 14116 S. Middle Road, Edinburg, Virginia. The Rev. Kathleen Murray will officiate. Burial will be private.

The family had received friends on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
