BASKERVILLE — Mr. Gradie Flythe Jr. departed this life on Feb. 17, 2018, in his home.

The Southampton County native was born on Jan. 14, 1936, to the late Gradie and Lucille Boone Flythe.
Mr. Flythe courageously served his country in the United States Air Force where he received medals for good conduct and many recognitions in his area of expertise.
He is survived by his wife, Judith Flowers; siblings, Callie Williamson, Granger Flythe (Katie) and Jimmie Flythe Sr.; nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
The service celebrating his life will be on Friday, Feb. 23, at noon, in Shiloh Baptist Church, 30188 Shiloh Road, Boykins, with the Rev. Faison delivering the eulogy; the Rev. Lillie Faison is the host pastor. The committal and benediction will be in Oak Grove Church Cemetery, Como, North Carolina.
