DREWRYVILLE — Shelby Edwards Whitby, 79, passed away on Feb. 17, 2018.

She was born in the Little Texas area of Southampton County, a daughter of the late Willie Faton and Fannie Taylor Edwards, and her husband of 60 years, the late Raymond L. “Pop” Whitby.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Norma Jean Gibson; her son, Dennis R. Whitby; two sisters, Joyce Clement and Ruby Pitt; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 20, in Greensville Memorial Cemetery, Emporia, with the Rev. David Everett officiating.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, and suggests memorials be made to the Drewryville Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 125, Drewryville, VA 23844.

The family would like to express their appreciation to all the caregivers for the care they provided their mother.
