FRANKLIN — George Presley Allen, 84, passed away on Feb. 15, 2018, in the East Pavilion.

George P. Allen

George was a native of Greensville County, and was a son of the late Arsee and Virgie Allen.
He was an Army veteran and a member of Hunterdale Christian Church.
George was the owner of George Allen Appliance in Franklin for many years and employed many high school boys through the years.
He had been a member of American Legion Post 73, Hunterdale Ruritan Club, Cypress Cove Country Club, and was an avid bird hunter, fisherman and golfer.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 62 years, Betty A. Allen; two daughters, Amy Allen Gardner (Bobby) of Suffolk and DeEtte Allen Fulk (Kevin) of Bridgewater; three precious granddaughters, Morgan Leigh Trahan, Payton Olivia Fulk and Bailey Brooke Fulk; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 19, in Wright Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Wright officiating. The burial will follow at Greensville Memorial Cemetery in Emporia.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 18, in Wright Funeral Home, and suggests that memorial donations be made to your favorite Relay for Life team (as George was a cancer survivor) or the Alzheimer’s Association.
