FRANKLIN
On Sunday at approximately 6:39 p.m., Southampton County deputies responded to Monroe Road near Nottoway Lane for a report of a motorcycle crash. Lt. Camden Cobb, a spokesman for the sheriff’s department, reported on Tuesday afternoon that deputies had arrived and observed one male subject being attended to by EMS personnel. The patient, later identified as Randy Wayne Gray, 55, of Franklin, was transported by helicopter to MCV in Richmond, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The investigation into the crash found that Gray lost control of the motorcycle on a straight stretch of Monroe Road. Speed does not appear to have been a factor. and there is no evidence to suggest any other vehicles were involved.

Gray’s body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Richmond for an autopsy.
