FRANKLIN — Eric “Opie” Shane Edwards, 46, passed away on Feb. 9, 2018.
Eric was born on Jan. 25, 1972, in Franklin and was a 1990 graduate of Franklin High School.
He went to Paul D. Camp Community College for two years and grew up in the Hunterdale Christian Church.
He worked at Bubba’s Place for 26 years before becoming an employee of Meherrin Chemical in March 2017.
Eric was very artistic and enjoyed drawing, painting and carving. He also enjoyed restoring old vehicles and riding his Harley Davidson.
Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Rebecca Turner Edwards; one sister, Holly E. Newsome and husband, Troy; and Eric’s two beloved nephews, Gavin and Camden.
Eric was predeceased by his father, Ronald Benjamin Edwards; his maternal grandparents, Peyton and Doris Turner; and paternal grandparents, Joseph and Minnie Edwards; and his dear friend, Naomi Munford Russ.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 14, in Wright Funeral Home, and will be officiated by Pastor Randy Wright. Burial will follow at Poplar Spring Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the start of the service and at other times at the home of Holly and Troy Newsome, 22555 E. Railroad St., Newsoms.
