FRANKLIN
Franklin Police are investigating two home invasion robberies, both of which occurred on Monday evening.

According to Capt. Tim Whitt, spokesman for the police department, at 6:29 p.m. officers were called to a residence in the 400 block of Cobb Street. Upon arrival, they learned that the resident heard a knock at his front door, and when he opened the door, two suspects forced their way into his house.

Both suspects were armed and robbed the victim of an undisclosed amount of cash, after which they fled. Both suspects are described as black males, one tall and thin with dreadlocks and wearing a black hat, the second short and heavyset. It is believed that the suspects fled in a black Honda SUV with tinted windows and North Carolina license plates. The victim was not injured.

While investigating the first incident, police were alerted to another home invasion robbery that had occurred at a residence at 7:40 p.m. in the 1400 block of South Street. Again it was reported that the suspects knocked on the main door, then entered the house, confronting one of the residents. A second resident was approached in his bedroom by a suspect who struck him in the head with a handgun.

The suspects robbed the victims of an undetermined amount of cash and two video gaming systems. Both suspects are described as black males wearing masks, both were armed with handguns. The victim struck did not require medical attention.

Police believe that the suspects responsible for the robbery on South Street are the same group responsible for the robbery on Cobb Street.
