Mary L. Ricks

FRANKLIN — Mother Mary L. Ricks of Morton Street transitioned from this earthly life to be with the Lord on Jan. 30, 2018, while a patient in Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center, Richmond, Virginia.
On May 13, 1923, she was born in Franklin to Charlie and Ada Perry Boger.
She was a member of the House of Prayer where she has served as Sunday School teacher, choir director, a member of the Missionary Ministry and mother of the church.
Mother Ricks attended Beulah Heights School under the direction of Laura Shanks.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Otis Ricks; one brother, Warren Boger; and two daughters, Carol White and Lenora Lambert.
Mother Ricks’ memory will always live in the hearts of four daughters, Barbara Hayslett, Vera Ricks, LaVonne Ricks and Alease Kearney; two sons, Otis T. Ricks Jr. (Betty) and Charles Stanley Ricks Sr. (Loretha); one sister, Glowrene Seaborn; 17 0grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
The homegoing celebration will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 6, in East End Church of God, 410 East St., Franklin, Virginia, with Vice Bishop Randolph Warren delivering the eulogy; Bishop S.D. Willis is the host pastor.
A traditional service with dignity will be conducted by Wm. M. Johnson & Sons Funeral Home Inc., 224 S. Main St.
