Evora B. Taylor

FRANKLIN — Evora B. Taylor of Cobb Street, Franklin, departed this life to claim her eternal rest on Dec. 14, 2017, in her home.
She was born on Oct. 16, 1936, to Joe J. and Mary S. Brown in Southampton County, Virginia.
Evora grew up in Franklin and attended Hayden High School. She was employed with Planter’s Peanut Corporation, currently named Kraft Foods, for 48 years.
She was a faithful member of St. Luke A.M.E. Zion Church, where she served on the Hospitality Ministry.
Evora was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Horace W. Taylor; one son, Warren T. Taylor; and one brother, Willie Nelson.
Her memory will be forever cherished by two daughters, Brenda D. Lassiter (Leon) and Dorothy E. Williams (Michael); three sons, Ricky M. Taylor (Mary), Donnell Taylor and Horace W. Taylor Sr. (Mary); 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; three aunts; one uncle; nieces nephews, cousins and many other relatives.
The celebration of Evora’s life was on Saturday, Dec. 23, at 11 a.m., in St. Luke A.M.E. Zion Church, 509 W. Third Ave., Franklin, with the pastor, the Rev. Dr. Joseph A. Perry, who delivered the eulogy. On the day of service, her remains rested in the church for viewing by 9 a.m. The committal and benediction were in Southview Cemetery.
A traditional service with dignity was conducted by Wm. M. Johnson & Sons Funeral Home Inc., 224 S. Main St..
