Southampton schools closed, others open late

Southampton County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Gwendolyn Shannon said the schools will remain closed on Friday.

“The second roads are still icy and not safe for buses and teen drivers,” she stated in a text announcement.
But both Franklin City Public Schools and Isle of Wight County Public Schools will operate on a two-hour delay, according to CPS Deputy Superintendent Kelvin Edwards and IWCS spokeswoman Lynn Briggs. She added that 12-month employees should report on time.
