Norman G. Lankford

FRANKLIN — Norman Griffin “Punk” Lankford, 92, passed away on Jan. 14, 2018, in the East Pavilion.
A native of Southampton County, Mr. Lankford was a son of the late Reggie and Julia Griffin Lankford. He was also predeceased by his wife, Marjorie Hawkins Lankford; a brother, James Thurman Lankford; and a sister, Mary Frances Lankford Free.
While attending VPI he was called into active duty and served in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He was a longtime builder, farmer and civil engineer and a member of the Franklin Masonic Lodge No. 151, the American Legion Post No. 73 and the Delaware Hunt Club.
Mr. Lankford was a member of Bethel Friends and attended Hunterdale Christian Church where he had been a former Sunday School Superintendent.
Left to cherish his memory are nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends especially his best friend for over 50 years, Richard Cutchins.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. with Masonic rites on Saturday, Jan. 20, in Wright Funeral Home with Pastor Don Rosie officiating. The burial with military honors will follow in Poplar Spring Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, and suggests that memorial donations be made to Hunterdale Christian Church, the Children’s Center or your local food bank.
