COURTLAND — Julia Stephenson Gray, 77, passed away on Jan. 7, 2018, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
Born in Southampton County, she was the daughter of the late Herbert Odell and Frances Grubbs Joyner, and was predeceased by her first husband, Samuel Wayne Stephenson Sr.
Julia was a graduate of Southampton High School and The Pan American Business School.
She retired from Union Camp Corporation where she worked as a secretary for many years.
She was a member of Courtland Baptist Church.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Franklin Lewis Gray; two daughters, Selinda S. Green of Smithfield and Marian G. Lewis of Mechanicsville; a son, Samuel Wayne Stephenson Jr. of Courtland; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The graveside service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 13, in Riverside Cemetery, Courtlandm with the Rev. Dr. Robert Carpenter officiating.
The family will receive friends in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m., and suggests that memorial donations be made to any favorite charity.
