Icy roads keeping schools closed

FRANKLIN
All public and private Western Tidewater schools will remain closed on Monday owing to freezing temperatures and icy roads.
Franklin City Public Schools is closed, confirmed by assistant superintendent Kelvin Edwards. Dr. Gwendolyn Shannon, superintendent of Southampton County Public Schools, announced the decision mid-Sunday afternoon, based on the reason given above.
Lynn Briggs, spokeswoman for the Isle of Wight County Public Schools, also announced that the school division would be closed for both staff and students.
Southampton Academy and Isle of Wight Academy have also announced closures for tomorrow.
