FRANKLIN — Albert “Al” Howard Johnson Jr., 75, passed away on Jan. 6, 2018, in his home surrounded by loved ones and caregivers.

Al was a member of Franklin Baptist Church, and a graduate of Windsor High School, Windsor, Virginia.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Al is survived by his wife of 55 years, Linda Daughtrey Johnson; sons, William Bradley (Lizanne) and Clay Corbitt (Tamara;) grandchildren, Logan Johnson Brewer (Jordan,) Paige Elizabeth Johnson and Blake Bradley Johnson, Clay Corbitt Johnson Jr., Ashlyn Grace Johnson and Brady Weston Johnson.’
He is also survived by a sister, Judith Johnson Rideout (Bob) of Richmond, Virginia.
He was predeceased by his mother, Mildred Rhodes Johnson, and his father, Albert Howard Johnson Sr., both of Windsor, but is also survived by a mother-in-law, Grace Henry Daughtrey of Carrsville, Virginia.
Al retired from Union Camp Corporation, Franklin, Virginia, after 32 years of service in paper-making; and from Asten Johnson, Atlanta, Georgia, after 10 years of service in paper machine clothing sales.
In his retirement he enjoyed traveling with his family, golf and get-togethers with friends.
The memorial service will be in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 10, with a reception for family and friends at the home immediately following. The service will be officiated by the Rev Steve Gibson, Franklin Baptist Church. Burial will be private in Windsor.
