Irma B. Howard

FRANKLIN — Irma Bryant Howard, 88, widow of Roy Howard, died on Jan. 3, 2018, in Southampton Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Howard was a native of Nansemond County and was a daughter of the late John L. and Katherine Coggsdale Bryant. She was also predeceased by four sisters, Evelyn B. Howard, Gladys B. Whalin, Janie B. Griffin and Jackie B. McGhee.
Mrs. Howard was a retired accounting manager for Southampton Memorial Hospital after 35 years of service, and prior to that had worked for 13 years for St. Regis Paper Company.
She was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church, and enjoyed working in her yard with her flowers.
Survivors include one daughter, Nancy H. Myers of Franklin; two grandchildren, Jeff Myers and his wife, Katie, and Morgan Myers; one sister, Barbara B. Babb of Franklin; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 7, in Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Warren Johnson and the Rev. James W. Browder III officiating. The burial will follow in Southampton Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home, and suggests that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
