Paul D. Camp Community College and the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore are developing a partnership. The charge of the PDCCC Foodbank Committee is to address food insecurities and hunger within affected populations.

On Dec. 6, the college made a request to the Foodbank for emergency food rations, as students’ needs emerged the week before exams. On Dec. 13, the college received 50 food bags, which were divided between the two campuses and the Smithfield site.

By the close of business Dec. 19, all of the food bags had been distributed. Donated items from staff and faculty supplemented the food bags, based on recipients’ needs. Recipients were also linked to other on and off campus resources.
