FRANKLIN
The body of a Franklin man was found on Sunday off West Second Avenue, according to information provided by Franklin Police Deputy Chief Robert Porti.

The deceased has been identified as 26-year-old Brandon Lee Leonard of Franklin.

At 7:15 p.m., officers responded to a call of shots fired in the 500 block of West Second Avenue.

On arrival, they discovered two vehicles had been struck by bullets. Information was obtained that a victim may have been seen limping away from the scene.

Subsequent investigation resulted in the discovery of a victim located in the water adjacent to West Second Avenue. Assistance was obtained from the Virginia State Police dive team to conduct recovery operations.

The investigation is ongoing and more information will be released as it becomes available.
