CHESAPEAKE — Clayton Louis “Trey” Best III, 19, passed away on Dec. 10, 2017.
Trey was born in Virginia Beach, and was a former resident of Franklin, Virginia.

He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Clayton Louis Best.
He was a 2016 honor graduate of Greenbrier Christian Academy and member of the Beta Club and member of the 2015 and 2016 baseball state championship teams. He played travel baseball for the CBA Rays, coached and mentored by Wiley Lee, Gary Lavelle and Kris Humphrey. He had attended James Madison University and Tidewater Community College, and was employed by Champion Landscaping in Chesapeake.
He was a member of Franklin Baptist Church and River Oak Baptist Church youth group.
Left to cherish has memory are his parents, Clayton Louis Best II and Jane Helen Best; his sister, Jenna Best and husband, Scott Burton; maternal grandparents, Bill and June McKenzie; paternal grandmother, Bessie Best; maternal aunts and uncles, June Anne Connor, Steve Toohey, Dale Klein and Tim Klein; paternal aunts and uncles, DeEtte Best, Lori and Ray Boykin and Curtis and Kathy Best; cousins, Nick Robertson, Geoffrey Harbick, Clayton Hamm, Allie Best, Tausha Christensen and Kendall Klein; and his beloved dog, Tucker.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 14, in Wright Funeral Home, 206 W. 4th Ave., Franklin, with the Rev. Steve Gibson officiating. The burial will follow in Southampton Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends in the funeral home on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m., and suggest in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to Greenbrier Christian Academy.
