COURTLAND
Starting on Monday, Dec. 4, Virginia Department of Transportation crews will temporarily close the crossover in front of the 7-Eleven located at 27414 Southampton Parkway (U.S. 58) in Courtland. The closure is expected to last through the morning of Friday, Dec. 8.

During the closure, motorists headed west on Southampton Parkway must make a U-turn at the intersection with Jerusalem Road (Business 58) if they wish to access businesses along the eastbound stretch of Southampton Parkway.

Motorists leaving businesses along the eastbound side of Southampton Parkway will use an adjacent crossover to head in the westbound direction.

The purpose of this Courtland Interchange Project is to eliminate the existing signalized intersection at Routes 58 and 58 Business, in Courtland. The expected completion date is December 2018.

Additional lane closures scheduled for the week of Dec. 4-8 are as follows:

  • Joyner’s Bridge Road in Walters will have flagger-controlled stoppages in both directions beginning on Dec. 4 and ending no later than Dec. 7, from 9 a.m. through 3 p.m. daily.
  • The segment of Southampton Parkway between Old Bridge Road (Route 742) and Shady Brook Trail (Route 650) will have alternating lane closures in both directions starting at 6 p.m. on Dec. 4 and ending no later than noon on Dec. 8. One lane will remain open at all times.
