FRANKLIN
A Franklin man has been captured in connection to a domestic assault charge following a search that began on Monday.

Latrell Lamon Novell was found on Tuesday morning at the skating rink on Walters Highway by the Isle of Wight Sheriff’s Department, according to Capt. Tim Whitt, spokesman for the Franklin Police Department. He added that Novell was given a $2,500 unsecured bond on the domestic assault charge and a $2,500 secure bond on the firearms charges. He was bonded and released from custody.

Originally, the police had been searching for him after they had responded to call at approximately 6:41 p.m. Monday from a residence in the 800 block of Railroad Avenue.

On arrival, police spoke with a 22-year-old female resident, who told them that she had been in a fight with her boyfriend. She alleged that Novell, 25, struck her in the face and pushed her down. Officers reported seeing visible injuries that corroborated her version of events.

The victim also told them that Novell fired a gun as he left. Police recovered one live .45 caliber cartridge and one spent .45 caliber cartridge case at the scene. There were no reported injuries or property damage from the gunfire.

Arrest warrants were obtained for Novell for domestic assault and battery, discharge of a firearm and reckless handling of a firearm. His last known address is in the 2300 block of Elmwood Drive, Franklin.
