FRANKLIN
Franklin Police are investigating two burglaries that took place on Tuesday evening in downtown.

Capt. Tim Whitt, spokesman for the department, said officers responded to an alarm at 6:36 p.m. at the Franklin-Southampton Chamber of Commerce on 108 W. Third Ave. There they discovered the front door was open and a side window was found to have been knocked out. The officers found no one inside and nothing was apparently taken. The alarm is credited with having scared the suspects away.

Police also discovered that Britt & Peak CPA, next door at 106 W. Third Ave., had been burglarized.

The suspects had gotten inside through the back door and then vandalized the inside as well stealing drinks and snacks.

Evidence was recovered, including a video that was recovered showing several suspects involved in the crimes.

Anyone with information about these crimes is asked to call the Franklin Police Department at 562-8575 or Franklin Crime Solvers at 562-8599. Information that leads to an arrest can earn the caller a cash reward while remaining anonymous.
