Shots fired into vehicle

FRANKLIN
City police are seeking information about shots fired into a vehicle on Saturday in the 400 block of Washington Street. Capt. Tim Whitt, spokesman for the Franklin Police Department, said that at 10 p.m., officers responded to a shots fired call. On that street they found that a 2009 GMC Acadia had been struck twice by gun fire.

The vehicle was unoccupied at the time of the shooting and there were no injuries reported. Police also learned that a vehicle had been traveling down Rosewood Avenue when an occupant fired shots from inside the car. There was no description given of either vehicle or suspect.

Officers on the scene attempted to gain information from potential witnesses on the street; however, no one would cooperate.

It is unknown if the vehicle was the intended target of the gun fire or it there was another intended target that was missed.

So far in 2017 there have been 51 incidents of gunshot calls and weapons violations in the city.
