Tree planted for Arbor Day

FRANKLIN
The City of Franklin held its annual Arbor Day Celebration on Thursday at the new playground on Armory Drive.
Included in the celebration was a reading of an Arbor Day Proclamation by Mayor Frank Rabil, and presentations by Lisa R. Denton from the Virginia Department of Forestry.
Children from the Children’s Center, Gingerbread House and Tiny Blessings Daycare were on hand to help plant the tree, visit with Smokey the Bear and participate in learning activities.
The event was sponsored by the Franklin Beautification Commission.
