SEDLEY — John James McNamara, 89, passed away on Oct. 13, 2017, in Southampton Memorial Hospital.

Mr. McNamara was born in Absecon Heights, New Jersey, the only son of the late James and Doris Goodrick McNamara; and was also predeceased by a son, James Patrick McNamara; and a sister, Kathleen Patricia McNamara.

He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, and had retired from Union Camp Corporation after 37 years as a pipefitter in the Maintenance Department.

Mr. McNamara had been a former assistant Scout Master with Troop 28, and was a Baptist.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 65 years, Judie Olivia Rose McNamara; two daughters, Michele M. Aiken and Laurie Anne McNamara, both of Lima, Ohio; two sons, R. Michael McNamara and his wife, Judy, of Franklin; and John David McNamara and his wife, Joyce, of Carrsville; eight grandchildren, Kathleen, Tammy, Joshua, Heather, Daniel, Diane, Gregory and Mary Beth; and 12 great-grandchildren.

The graveside service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 20, in Southampton Memorial Park with the Rev. James H. Hyatt Jr. officiating.

The family will receive friends in Wright Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, and suggests that memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 6350 Center Dr., Suite 102, Norfolk, VA 23502.
