Franklin man in custody following bomb threat

FRANKLIN
A Franklin man is in custody after allegedly making a bomb threat against the mother of his child. This information comes from Maj. Gene Drewery, spokesman for the Southampton County Sheriff’s Office.

Southampton deputies had responded to a bomb threat on Oct. 9 at the Southampton Meadows Trailer Park on Thomas Street in Franklin at approximately 6:45 a.m. No bomb was found, but their investigation led them to suspect, Dejoseph Lamar Ricks, 22, also of Thomas Street, whom they arrested on Oct. 12. According to Drewery, the threat was made via text message during a dispute between Ricks and the mother of his child.

Ricks is being held in the Southampton County Jail. He has been charged with one count of bomb threat, etc. by offender 15 or over and one count of threat by letter, communication or electronic message.
