FRANKLIN — Jean Loraine “Neam” Tomlin, 95, widow of James “Dee” J. Tomlin Sr., passed away on Oct. 11, 2017.

Born on Aug. 20, 1922, in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, and raised on the Eastern Shore, she was the only child of the late Lydia Mae Turner and Leibig Morse Turner.
She was also predeceased by a son, James “Jimmy” J. Tomlin Jr., a daughter-in-law, Joyce “Joy” W. Tomlin and a great-great-grandson, Matthew H. Curle.
Neam was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church, and was a friend to all and loved her family with all her heart.
Left to cherish her memory are a daughter, Sandra F. Shafer and husband, Edward, of Conway, North Carolina; a grandson, James “Jay” J. Tomlin III, and a granddaughter, Janice “Jan” L. Tomlin, both of Franklin; two great-granddaughters, Brittney W. Curle and husband, Jason, of Windsor; and Jayde M. Fisk of Franklin; one great-grandson, Jayke Tomlin Fisk and girlfriend, Emily Harper, of Holland; one great-great-grandson, Nathan C. Curle of Windsor. Neam is also survived by a host of cousins and close friends that were in her life as well.
The family will receive friends on Friday, Oct. 13, from 6 to 7 p.m., followed by the funeral at 7 p.m. in Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Warren Johnson officiating. Burial will be private.
A special thanks goes out to First Class Home Care Service and their employees for the kind service they provided; also for all the family and friends who took their time to sit with Neam when we needed a break. A very special thanks goes out to her great-granddaughter, Jayde Fisk, for all the love and care she gave to Neam for the last five years.
