Let’s respect each other’s differences

To the Editor:
Here I am at the computer at 5:42 a.m. Why? Because I woke up thinking about the situation this world is in. All I hear is protesting, whining, negativity, etc. Is any of this going to solve our problems? No?

Emancipation took place in 1865. Integration took place in the 1960s. Equal education is available. Equal job opportunity is available. From pauper to the richest person in the country, we have it better than most of the rest of the planet.

Let us all try to concentrate on what we can do to help the situation and, as one child said after the Oklahoma bombing, “Why can’t we all just get along?”

Moving monuments, killing each other, calling each other names are not going to solve the problem.

Until we can sit down and try to understand each other, respect our differences (re: culture, politics, religion, etc.) and take care of each other’s needs, we will never solve our problems.

Could we please give it a try?
