FRANKLIN
On Thursday at 8:45 p.m., officers responded to the 300 block of Bruce street in reference to a yellow Chevrolet Camaro being driven recklessly. This information comes from Capt. Tim Whitt, spokesman for the Franklin Police Department.

Officers located the unoccupied vehicle behind Old Towne Apartments. When asked, a group of people in the area denied the car belonged to them. Later it was learned that the car was a rental out of Norfolk.

As officers were preparing the car to be towed, six gunshots were heard about a block away on Langston Court, followed by a single 911 call about gunshots and several females screaming. As an officer stayed with the vehicle, other police left to investigate. A canvas of the area revealed no one on Langston Court or adjacent areas. It is believed this was a ploy to draw officers away from the car so suspects could flee in it.

Anyone with information as to who fired the gunshots on Langston Court is asked to call Franklin Police at 562-8575 or Franklin Crime Solvers at 562-8599.

Information that leads to an arrest can earn the caller a cash reward while remaining anonymous.
