Charlie G. Lupton

FRANKLIN — Charlie Gray Lupton, 85, passed away on Oct. 3, 2017, in Southampton Memorial Hospital Skilled Care Unit.
Charlie was born in Lowland, North Carolina, and was a son of the late Sherman Alexander Lupton and Lizzie Dean Ballance Lupton. He was also predeceased by his wife, Jean A. Lupton, and four brothers, Sherman, George, Keith and Vernon Lupton.
Charlie was the former owner and operator of Lupton Electric for three decades.
He proudly served in the Navy on the USS Rochester, and kept a lifelong relationship with many of his shipmates.
He was an active member of Franklin Presbyterian Church, the Charles R. Yount American Legion Post No. 73, Franklin Masonic Lodge No. 151 AF & AM and was a Shriner.
An avid waterman and fisherman, Charlie never met a stranger and could talk with anyone about anything.
Left to cherish his memory are one daughter, Linda J. Covington and husband, Harold, of Capron; one son, Don B. Lupton and wife, Sandy, of Franklin; two grandsons, Matt Covington and Gray Lupton; his extended family and his Cypress Manor neighborhood family.
The graveside service with military honors will be at 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 6, in Southampton Memorial Park with the Rev. Lou Ventura officiating.
