City police, fire and rescue responded to a barricade situation on High Street between Gardner and Lee streets earlier on Monday.
Capt. Tim Whitt, Franklin police spokesman, said a woman who lived in the house apparently had mental health issues who had barricaded herself at home, had cut herself with a knife and supposedly had a firearm. Whitt did not yet know her name or the exact time responders were called.
One officer got on the phone and spent time talking to her. After several attempts, she came out and was treated for the injury. No one else, including officers, was injured
Further details will be reported in The Tidewater News as they develop.
