COURTLAND
Deputies with the Southampton County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 23000 block of Southampton Parkway on Thursday morning in response to reports of a collision between a van and a tractor-trailer carrying logs.

This information comes from Maj. Gene Drewery, spokesman for the Southampton County Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office was notified of the accident at approximately 7:53 a.m.

Deputies say the van ran into the back of the tractor-trailer, which was stopped in the travel lane near Southampton High School due to a construction backup. The driver of the van was injured and airlifted to a trauma center. No charges have been filed against either driver.
